“Kitchen, laundry and mudroom design has expanded to incorporating hidden food stations, as well as, areas for dry and wet food storage,” reports Margaret Skinner of Margeaux Interiors. “Eating nooks for food bowls and water, as well as, dog showers/washing areas in mudrooms and laundry rooms have been on the rise. Also, incorporating a place for kennels-crates and litter boxes that blend with cabinetry.  We have adjusted window locations and heights for bird cages, as well as for cats and dogs to view out.”

Margaret Skinner of Margeaux Interiors also recommends vinyl and faux leather for indoor and outdoor furniture for easy cleanability as well as porcelain floor tiles with polymer modified cement grout and luxury vinyl planks. Both are good for “easy cleanup of an oops as well as forgiving of paws and claws,” she says.

Skinner has another prediction, one that would sure to be welcomed by many pet owners. The designer would love to see “AI robots that will clean up fur and litter boxes,” she says.
